Creating the Time to do Art

In 1986, I came up with a system (or rather a system came to me) to commit to a certain number of hours per week to work on your (my) creative project. I got the idea from an article on creativity in Glamor Magazine. They said to commit to LESS time than you think you could do. I started with 6 hours a week, and gradually that went up to fifteen at its peak. This system has been the key to my sustained progress on my cartoons for the past 26 years. I fell away from my system during the past year, and now I’m doing it again. This week I commit to 6 hours. I want to tell you how difficult that’s going to be because of all of the other stuff that I have to do this week, but I won’t.
